I am proud to see the hard work and collaboration lent to the formation of a new radio station in Norman, OK. I see truly exponential returns for the labor devoted to community radio stations such as those seen at www.pacificanetwork.org . I've served on the Local Station Board of KPFT Radio in Houston, TX and have had the opportunity to attend several Grassroots Radio Conferences-- in Jeffersonville, NY, Moab, UT, Madison, WI and Santa Barbara, CA. I've seen an FCC public meeting in San Antonio, TX orchestrated to present a pretty picture of commercial radio-- which was exposed. Nothing can replace the social capital of people informed of and engaged in issues of interest to their community. More power to those volunteers who strive to bring news, public affairs, listener empowerment, education and entertainment to their locality through communities radio.
