Study breaks down demographics of Oklahoma legislators

Individuals whose full-time occupation is “legislator” overtook attorneys among lawmakers across the country for the first time in 2007, according to a new study released Wednesday by the National Conference of State Legislatures.
The average age of a state legislator rose slightly to 56.
In Oklahoma, attorneys make up about 17.6 percent of lawmakers in the House and Senate, compared with 15.2 percent overall, the study found.
